Paulus Potter was a Dutch painter who was born in Enkhuizen, Netherlands in 1625. He is considered one of the greatest animal painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Potter's most famous work is "The Young Bull," which is now housed in the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague.

Potter was known for his detailed and lifelike depictions of animals and livestock, especially cows, bulls and horses. He was also a talented landscape painter, and his works often incorporated rural landscapes and farm scenes. Potter's works were highly sought after during his lifetime and were widely collected by both Dutch and foreign collectors.

Potter's style was influenced by his contemporaries, such as Adriaen van de Velde and Jan van Goyen, as well as by the Flemish Baroque style. He was also influenced by the work of the Italian Renaissance painters, such as Titian and Paolo Veronese.

Despite his success as an artist, Potter's life was short-lived and he died in The Hague in 1654, at the age of only 29. Despite his relatively short career, Potter left behind a lasting legacy and is considered one of the great Dutch Masters of the 17th century. Today, his works can be found in some of the world's leading museums, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
